The European Network of Observatories in the Field of Arts and Cultural Education (ENO) was founded in Genshagen in 2015. The network provides a platform for international exchange and European networking in order to foster the further development of cultural education in Europe and the expansion of research activities in the field. The network now consists of institutions from 18 European countries, including universities, government structures, educational and cultural institutions. All member institutions work in an interdisciplinary manner connecting research and practice in the field of arts and cultural education.
Together with the Academy of Cultural Education of the Federal Government and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia in Remscheid, the Genshagen Foundation also forms the national ‘Observatory for Arts and Culture Education’ in Germany and has hosted the annual network meeting in 2025, marking the network's 10th anniversary. During their meeting, members evaluated their achievements to date and planned activities for the upcoming years. Among others, cooperation with the respective national UNESCO commissions is to be expanded and exchange on current and future priority topics of the individual observatories intensified. The meeting was hosted by the Institute for Museum Research, that organized in cooperation with Genshagen Foundation and the ENO network had organized the European conference „Democratization of the Arts? Through the Arts? New Perspectives for Arts and Cultural Education in Europe”.
