How to define digital sovereignty in Europe? How to safeguard public discourse and cultural and media diversity from the influence of commercial platforms run by non-European big tech companies? How does copyright legislation affect the political and economic development of Europe? And what power to shape the future lies in creative production?

Artificial intelligence, especially generative AI, is recognised as harbouring both opportunities and risks for society, democracy, rule of law and European identity. In order to serve the market and the society, AI regulations in Europe must comply with fundamental and human rights requirements, ensure Europe’s innovation capacity to guarantee growth and value creation as well as the viability of the creative industries. What can art and culture contribute to shaping a European vision and identity; do they possibly harbour our social and cultural resilience?

The conference addresses institutions and stakeholders from the Weimar Triangle as well as European partners in order to jointly explore parallels, commonalities and possible alliances and to develop future visions for the creation of favourable conditions for a responsible and creative approach to AI in Europe.
