EU Meets Europe – a Transdisciplinary Approach to European Integration

The project EU Meets Europe is based on the idea that the discussion of pivotal issues of European integration – understood as Europe growing together politically, economically, socially and culturally – must involve the continent as a whole. It should not end at national or EU external borders, nor should it be conducted exclusively within narrowly defined expert circles.  

EU Meets Europe brings together a transdisciplinary group of young professionals from academia, civil society, the media, the arts and culture from the Weimar Triangle and the countries of Eastern and Southeastern Europe. During a kick-off workshop at Genshagen Castle, participants engage in dialogue across different disciplinary and national contexts and develop their own project works addressing key issues for Europe’s future. 

They develop a variety of contributions – analyses and essays, literary texts, images and illustrations, audiovisual works and other artistic performances. This approach creates space for diverse ways of engaging with Europe and brings these different perspectives into dialogue with one another. 

By bringing together different viewpoints and forms of expression, the project opens up new ways of reflecting on and exploring the future of European integration, while also reaching new – and especially younger – audiences.
