Art and Culture make a difference. On the role of arts and cultural education in rural areas.

Près de 250 chercheurs et professionnels du monde entier ont participé à la conférence internationale en ligne « Art and culture make a difference ». Lors d’interventions, d’ateliers, d’une table ronde et d’une performance poétique, les participants ont exploré le rôle de l’éducation artistique et culturelle dans les territoires ruraux sous l’influence de larges processus de transformation sociétaux tels que la mondialisation, la crise climatique et la numérisation.
Des projets de recherche du programme de financement du Ministère fédéral allemand de l’Éducation et de la Recherche (BMBF) ont notamment présenté les résultats de leurs travaux de recherche et initié une discussion avec le public international. La table ronde a analysé le thème de la « glocalisation » et son implication dans l’éducation artistique et culturelle. L’évènement s’est achevé par un « poetic closing ».

About 250 researchers and practitioners from across the world attended the international online conference “Art and culture make a difference”. Through keynotes, workshops, a panel discussion, a poetic performance the conference explored the role that arts and cultural education play in supporting rural areas while they go through challenging transformational processes, such as globalisation, climate crisis and digitisation.
Research projects from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) Funding Programme “Arts and Cultural Education in Rural Areas” gave crucial input to the conference by leading workshops with European guests. They explored research processes and findings together with the international audience. A final panel discussion explored “Glocalisation“ and its implications for arts and cultural education – connecting rural areas and regional roots with global processes and dynamics. A poetic closing concluded the conference.
