The conference report "Music, Media, Arts Education. A Pan-European Exchange of Views on Research, Practice and Musical Education in the Digital Age" summarises the results of the online European conference held in November 2020. The conference brought together researchers from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research's (BMBF) funding line "Digitisation in Arts and Cultural Education" with actors from music education, research and practice throughout Europe.

Digitisation is now part of our everyday lives. It is no longer just to do with technology but also with our culture and cultural practices, including artistic music practice: a field that has become increasingly dependent on technical developments. Which ideas and resources generated by current artistic and entrepreneurial digital music practitioners lead us to expect innovation in the field of arts and cultural education? And what is the emancipatory potential that arts and cultural education bring to the digital sector? This conference report summarises presentations and discussion outcomes related to these issues from the online conference "Music, Media, Arts Education" on 17 and 18 November 2020. Through this event we opened up a discursive space for interdisciplinary and international exchanges with researchers from the BMBF-funding line "Digitisation in Arts and Cultural Education", as well as with actors from music education, research and practice throughout Europe. Topics mentioned include the aesthetic value of art and music production in the digital age, empowerment through technology, the question of how musicians and representatives of creative music technologies have adapted their practice, as well as looking in more detail at real-life applications and research using new technologies in music and cultural education.
